There were some significant increases in shipping rates that took effect on January 1, 2012 and escalating fuel prices have only added to the misery. Over the past several years the increased diversity of the products we ship has made it increasingly difficult to adhere to percentage based shipping caps. When we just sold board games, estimating weights and dimensions for the purpose of establishing shipping costs was relatively easy. In 2012 and beyond, Outset Media will be shipping products with a huge range of weights and dimensions. With this in mind we were forced to review our national shipping policy for the first time in our company history. Rather than dropping our popular shipping cap policy immediately, we will continue this program in a revised format for the remainder of 2012. In 2013 we will convert to actual shipping charges on all orders. To help lessen the blow to Canadian retailers we have dropped our wholesale prices and/or absorbed increases wherever possible. Depending on how you order, your overall landed cost may actually go down.
As a reminder, the new 2012 catalogue will be mailing out towards the end of April. Until then, be sure to watch my blog at the link below for some of the latest updates.
